What a story!

Here is a modern day tale of Samson and Goliath. A story to make you smile. In the male dominated, multi million pound world that is international soccer a young Irish woman is down to the final three for scoring the greatest goal of 2014.

If you watch this you will see that there was but one camera filming from the stands. The goal was scored in front of a crowd of just 95 people, in a club match in Ireland. It was scored by a woman.

It would be wonderful for Stephanie Roche to defy the odds to win the Fifa Ballon d’Or award for 2014. Her amazing goal has gone viral and rightly so. If you have literally two seconds can you please give her your vote here. http://www.fifa.com/ballon-dor/puskas-award/index.html

We will all be watching on Monday night when RTE television (Ireland) will show the results live on Monday January 12th at 5.30pm.

Here is the “oh wow I can’t believe she did that” goal

  1. I love this! And I especially love that it isn’t about product endorsements or mega-million contracts or performance enhancing whatevers. Just a game and the athletes. That makes her already a winner.

    1. Yes money certainly had nothing to do with this entry. She hasn’t even got any sponsorship or endorsements since being nominated.

      1. she’s already a winner for making it to the final 3 against lots of competition from professional players, and despite a poor quality video that doesn’t do justice to her superb ball control and skill in scoring that goal

    1. She came 2nd but the winner is from columbia who have a population of 14 million and ireland has 4 million so as it was votes she did v well.
