Have you seen my post? No seriously I’ve lost it!

I have just spent an hour typing,
what was a difficult post.
One which hurt.
And guess what? I’ve lost it!

I left my laptop briefly,photo credit: <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/eleaf/2536358399/">Eleaf</a> via <a href="http://photopin.com">photopin</a> <a href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/">cc</a>
in order to fill my empty glass.
(Therein might lie the clue.)
On return, my internet was down,
my post a thing of the past!

Will I write it again?
No.
The moment has passed, the words all used up,
and the emotions expressed are gone.

However now I feel a whole new set of emotions.
Anger, frustration and would you believe it humour.
I only needed to pause a moment and press save.
Just once would have done,
but I had no time, as my fingers flew.

So now, nearing midnight, I get to write a different post.
One in which I share the two things I have learned tonight.photo credit: <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/debaird/2415815440/">debaird™</a> via <a href="http://photopin.com">photopin</a> <a href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/">cc</a>
Thing number one, “Press save for Gods sake”.
Thing number two,” I am a feckin eejit!”

Pity you missed it.
It was sheer brilliance.
It got seventy two likes,
(in my imagination).
Ah well, that’s blogging for you.
Maybe next time!

  1. oh, so sorry tric. i’ve done the same thing before and haven’t had the heart or mindset to recreate. perhaps it will show up on some random site in the social media blog universe. if you see it, claim it as your own, it’s out there floating around somewhere )

    1. Maybe it’s out there somewhere! I actually don’t mind, as its the writing I really enjoy, and find therapeutic. Mind you at the moment of discovery that it was gone I might have said something else!

  2. Aw, that has happened to me too but usually in a long comment I spent a lot of time and thought on. After that I generally just type a short reply because I’m too annoyed to try re-typing what I’d previously composed. I’ve heard if you have the computer skills one can find anything ‘lost’ on a computer but that usually means being an IT person and I’m not that.

    1. I have had that happen too. It is awful because the next comment is never what you really intended to say.
I am no IT expert I’m afraid, so I am just bidding it goodbye. A lesson learned

  3. [ Smiles ] I highly recommend that you use Microsoft Word for composing your articles; when you are finished, copy your article and paste it into WordPress.

I learned my lesson the hard way. I know what it is like to lose an entire article; you are not the first and you certainly wouldn’t be the last.

    1. Thanks. I think i will do this from now on as my internet is getting dodgy and that glass just needs to be filled.
Never again. That would be a lesson well learned.

  4. I will be one of the 72 who like this post in it’s stead. And I have cussed a word or two at the loss of a post or two. 🙂 And my empty glass is just tea or Diet Coke!!!

    1. Thanks for the like! I think I’ll do as suggested and write in word from now on.
I am at my most creative with a glass of wine in me!

  5. Poor Tric. Ne’er mind, as usual you have found the silver lining – you don’t change 🙂
I agree with Renard – I write on Word, and only transfer the text to WP when I’m ready to get the photos sorted and fine-tune the text. Try setting your computer to make a backup of each text too – lesson I learned when my computer crashed and took 32 pages of a 35 page scientific translation with it….

    1. I did that last night but tonight I forgot, but I got away with it. I am not going to risk it again though.
I’ve been mad busy, and am way behind on my reading. I hope you are keeping well, and all is okay in your world.

    1. I was very annoyed initially, but I quickly realised that I write to offload, not to share, so it wasn’t as painful as I thought.

  6. Yep, been there done that…sounds like you are in the majority, not minority. Sorry. I always look forward to your thoughtful and inspirational posts.

    1. Thank you. I’ve been blogging a year and this never happened to me before, but I couldn’t believe how many it has happened to.
Hopefully never again. Thanks for being such a loyal reader. I always appreciate your comments.

  7. Sorry to hear this, Tric, it’s happened to me, too, and it is frustrating! I’m dealing with other issues on WP that seems to be creating more hair to highlight! 🙂 Take care and hope it won’t happen again!
