What can I say about being nominated,
for a Sunshine Award?
Here in Ireland we’d say
“I’m scarlet!”.
Thank you so much to
lauriesnotes for nominating me.
I love reading her site.
Check it out she always posts something to make you think.
I am deeply uncomfortable, accepting any form of praise.
Don’t get me wrong,
I love that my blog is enjoyed,
but when I received nominations for three awards last week,
my immediate reaction,
was to go to ground.
Hide.
Unlike America in Ireland success is not celebrated.
We love a tryer,
someone on the way up the ladder.
“Fair play to her, Isn’t she fantastic?”.
But once your doing well,
we tut tut.
“Did you hear your one?”, “She doesn’t half love herself!”.
“I knew her when she was no one”.
I remember hearing the actor,
Gabriel Byrne being interviewed,
on the most popular television chat show in Ireland.
He was asked,
“Do people stop you in the street,
when you come home to Ireland?”
He replied that one day he was walking in town (Dublin),
And someone stopped him,
telling him they loved his movies etc.
He was hapily listening,
when a person who was passing,
overheard the conversation.
They stopped,
turned around,
faced him and said,
“Well I think your last movie was crap!”.
So my point is we love to knock success,
therefore we find accepting praise difficult.
However I am so getting over it!
So back to my award.
The rules for this award are as follows:
* Make sure to post this award on your blog site
* Nominate ten fellow bloggers
* Please answer the ten questions
1. What inspired you to start blogging?
My brother has a site freerangestartup. His enthusiasm for what he does led me here!
2. How did you come up with a name for your blog?
If I can remember correctly..
“What will I call this?”
“Ah yes, Thoughts on a page”
So I didn’t really put a lot of thought into it!
3. What is your favorite blog to read?
I have quite a few. The list is growing by the day. I love madhatters and neds blog, cranky caregiver,
and that bold brat that is lady or not.
4. Tell me about your dream job.
Anything involving a huge salary a laptop,
A private office and a ban on children entering!
5. Is your glass half-full or half-empty?
Depends how long I’ve been drinking!
I’m definitely a half full girl.
6. If you could go anywhere for a week’s vacation, where would you go?
Disneyland.
Not my choice but I am one of 6!
7. What food can you absolutely not eat?
Anything in the fridge with too much mould on it.
8. Dark chocolate or milk chocolate?
All I hear is chocolate.
9. How much time do you spend blogging?
All day every day!
Well not really I do have to work,
and my kids keep annoying me.
I suppose I blog as often as I can,
but not as often as I’d like to.
10. Do you watch TV? If so, what are your favorite shows?
Anything comedy.
And the suckers who have to answer the next lot of questions are!!!
