Grief… when a kind friend gives you a gift token to buy a plant or tree to celebrate my mum’s life and I pick up the phone to tell my mum about it.
Grief… when you live a life based on this time last month or last year.

Grief… when the pain of looking at photos is comforting.
Grief… when you think you’re having a good day and one second later are bereft.
Grief… when you find comfort in feathers and robins and rainbows.
Grief… a pity party for one.
Grief… the price of loving. Worth every tear.
Grief, the next stage of love. ❤

Loved that thank you. There has been a lot of ‘smoke in my eyes over the past few weeks’.
Oh Tric, and I’m so sorry for your loss. Massive hugs Xxx
Thank you.
So many people must be able to identify with this.
Yes, it’s impossible to get through life without grief… but it would be dreadful to live a life without love.
I am so sorry to read of the death of your Mum. I experienced all these feelings when my own Mum died too and it’s a terribly difficult time. I still long to pick up the phone to my Mum to tell her when something good or bad happens in my own life. I don’t think that feeling will ever go away. The writer Anne Lamott’s words have given me comfort down through the years: “You will lose someone you can’t live without, and your heart will be badly broken, and the bad news is that you never completely get over the loss of your beloved. But this is also the good news. They live forever in your broken heart that doesn’t seal back up. And you come through. It’s like having a broken leg that never heals perfectly- that still hurts when the weather gets cold, but you learn to dance with the limp.”
Thank you so much it’s amazing the comfort words can bring from someone who “knows’. My sympathies on the loss of your own mum. The length of time is of course irrelevant.
She was an amazing lady, your Mum. She will live forever, but in peace, in your broken hearts. She will give you courage on challenging days and smiles when random memories invade your thoughts.
