I have to go!

I have wondered when to announce this,photo credit: <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/shandilee/5022057355/">Shandi-lee</a> via <a href="http://photopin.com">photopin</a> <a href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/2.0/">cc</a>
but I feel like no time is a good time.
So brace yourselves,
get your tissues ready,
and find the number for your local counselling service.

In four more sleeps I am going on holiday.
I will be away for ten days!

I have wondered what to do about my blog when I am away.
Will I schedule posts?
Will I repost?
Will I go online whilst enjoying myself.

However I have made a decision.
All the above involves being organised,
and ahead of schedule.
These are characteristics I lack.
(Hard to believe I am not perfect!).

So instead, I will be using the cold turkey method.
For ten days this site will remain quiet.
Your readers will be minus one post.

In the six months since I first began this blog,
I have posted over 180 posts,
and have over 12,000 views.
Way way over and beyond anything I ever thought possible.

In that time I have made many “virtual” friends.
I have read great posts,
and on some sites lived through some real life adventures.
Emotional abuse, physical abuse, births, marriages and divorce,
illness and operations,
not to mention the posts that made me laugh out loud.

However I have also seen some of those I enjoy,
hang up their laptop,
and move away from blogging.

These bloggers have helped give me perspective.
I love this blog,
but it is a joy to write not a chore.

So in order to keep that freshness,
both in me and my blog,
I am taking a full break.
No reposts, no comments, no reading.
When I go away this Sunday,
it will be just me and my family.
None of you can come with us!

I will miss reading your posts,
and our daily comments.
However whilst I will miss you all, my blog,photo credit: <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/dok1/5151942999/">dok1</a> via <a href="http://photopin.com">photopin</a> <a href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/">cc</a>
and wordpress in general,
I think there is a freedom in leaving technology at home,
which I am actually looking forward to.

So enjoy the next few days reading,
and maybe when I am away you can go back in time,
and read some of my older posts.
Before I go I may even point you in the direction,
of some you may enjoy.
Or maybe like myself,
you will take a full break,
from reading “my thoughts on a page”.

While I am away,
I cannot promise I will write,
and come back full of literary treasures.
But I can promise I will come back.
When I do, I am sure I will be looking forward to catching up,
and writing on my blog once more.

So you have been warned.photo credit: <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/alanenglish/4922085356/">Al_HikesAZ</a> via <a href="http://photopin.com">photopin</a> <a href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/2.0/">cc</a>
Get ready to make new friends,
because this blogger is off,
to do some of the other things she does very well.
Eat, drink, read and sleep.
(to mention but a few!)

  1. I’m not sure I will survive your absence. Can you recommend an appropriate grief counselling service?
    Seriously though – enjoy.

    1. Ha ha. I think you’ll just about survive!
Thank you very much. I must say I will really miss blogging and commenting each day. But I am looking forward to the holiday.

  2. Off you go and enjoy yourself, tric

    Don’t worry about your blog

If you can just – before you go – switch off the option to hold every comment in moderation before allowing it to appear in print, I promise me and the guys over at Madhatters will come over each day and keep an eye on things for you here while you’re away πŸ˜‰

  3. Ooooh Tric you are going to drive yourself crazy! Every time you find yourself in a situation that would make a great post you are going to write it in your head! No ‘My thoughts on a page’ for you, it’s all going to be ‘ My thoughts in my head’ going around and around and around!

Have a wonderful time getting away from it all with your family. I’ll miss you.

    1. Ha ha. You have come to know me well. Blogging has been a wonderful outlet for my day to day wonderings and happenings. I will indeed go a bit crazy, but I will just have to go back to my pre blogging days and blog secretly on the blog in my head.
Thank you. I hope as we say here, that we will have great “craic”.

    1. Oh Mocha, well done. That is great news. I was wondering were you getting on alright.
I hope somewhere you are still writing but not publishing. 26 days. That is some achievement. A big pat on the back from me. πŸ™‚

  4. Question: Does one “comment” to a blogger who isn’t there? If one does, will one be heard? πŸ™‚

Enjoy your well-deserved time off. I’ll leave the light on for you. πŸ˜‰
