In four more sleeps I am going on holiday.
I will be away for ten days!
I have wondered what to do about my blog when I am away.
Will I schedule posts?
Will I repost?
Will I go online whilst enjoying myself.
However I have made a decision.
All the above involves being organised,
and ahead of schedule.
These are characteristics I lack.
(Hard to believe I am not perfect!).
So instead, I will be using the cold turkey method.
For ten days this site will remain quiet.
Your readers will be minus one post.
In the six months since I first began this blog,
I have posted over 180 posts,
and have over 12,000 views.
Way way over and beyond anything I ever thought possible.
In that time I have made many “virtual” friends.
I have read great posts,
and on some sites lived through some real life adventures.
Emotional abuse, physical abuse, births, marriages and divorce,
illness and operations,
not to mention the posts that made me laugh out loud.
However I have also seen some of those I enjoy,
hang up their laptop,
and move away from blogging.
These bloggers have helped give me perspective.
I love this blog,
but it is a joy to write not a chore.
So in order to keep that freshness,
both in me and my blog,
I am taking a full break.
No reposts, no comments, no reading.
When I go away this Sunday,
it will be just me and my family.
None of you can come with us!
I will miss reading your posts,
and our daily comments.
However whilst I will miss you all, my blog,
and wordpress in general,
I think there is a freedom in leaving technology at home,
which I am actually looking forward to.
So enjoy the next few days reading,
and maybe when I am away you can go back in time,
and read some of my older posts.
Before I go I may even point you in the direction,
of some you may enjoy.
Or maybe like myself,
you will take a full break,
from reading “my thoughts on a page”.
While I am away,
I cannot promise I will write,
and come back full of literary treasures.
But I can promise I will come back.
When I do, I am sure I will be looking forward to catching up,
and writing on my blog once more.
