I’m back, but all is not okay.

Hallelujah. I’m back. The sad cruel world, bereft of the internet and social media, is no longer where I live and I’m delighted. However something is not quite right.

While I’ve been gone my email address has not changed, my blog is where it always was and my ‘contact me’ page is alive and working (because I’ve checked) but I’ve detected a problem. Despite exhaustive searching through every in and out box I own, on every email address attributed to me, I’ve not found the email from the Irish Blog Awards telling me I’m a finalist.

I know the congratulations emails were sent, because many of my Irish blogging friends have received them, but sadly mine has yet tophoto credit: 351/365 - two reasons via photopin (license) arrive. It’s getting a little late now, as the awards are this Thursday, but maybe if I just turn up and introduce myself to them they’ll be able to apologise in person?

I wouldn’t like to assume I’ll win, but it would be foolish to arrive without a speech prepared. Even if I say so myself, mine is a great one and just like the academy awards I’ve kept it on the clock. If I speak really quickly I’ll even have time to thank every member of my family. I can’t wait.

So thank you to all of you who took the time and effort to vote for me. I’m sure it’s just an admin error. I did ask ‘himself’ what he thought and he diplomatically said, “No email, no final” but what would he know about the world of blogging? I’d better go now as it’s been almost ten minutes since I last checked my inbox.

I’ll dedicate my award to all of you my friends, especially those of you losers who never made it to the finals.

…. rushes off to check, stares at empty inbox and mutters, ‘Stupid awards. I couldn’t go on Thursday anyway!’

  1. Uh oh.

I, too, am not a finalist.

Come to think of it, I’m not an Irish Blogger, either, but still, a guy can hope.

I commiserate with you. The proper thing to do is to create the “Real Irish Blogger” awards. See the “Real” in front? That creates confusion with the real “Irish Blogger” awards, and people will flock to your awards. At least, I think that’s how it works. I might be wrong.

  2. tric, i think it’s lost in the mail with my invite to mary patterson’s birthday party that i never received while in second grade. i’m sure they’ll both turn up, not to worry –

    1. I thought I’d replied to this the other day. I laughed out loud when I read it. I wonder if that Mary Patterson has Irish roots? Maybe her family are involved over here?
