How many drafts have you sitting unfinished? The other night as I was posting I realised I am only seven posts away from my 700th published post. I then checked how many unpublished posts were sitting there, gathering dust.
Would you believe it there are 194?
So I thought you would like to see what some of them look like. Some of these date back to my early days, while others were only last week. Some may yet see the light of day. Some will quite rightly not…
Over the past few weeks I’ve been wondering… what next for me? For my writing? I’ve been blogging for over two years and I can’t quite put into words how much I enjoy it…
Take a moment to breathe.
In every day we have moments which wow us. Often we meet this moments, think ‘wow’ and then move on, forgetting them. Today I had a number of such moments…
For all the things you do.
The way you insist on driving slowly on motorways, and like a rally driver on a narrow country road, The way you think you are the only one, who can load the diswasher, The way you twitch when seeing…
Untitled.
In my life I have two sayings, the first is, “no one has everything” The second is, “Life is short, is this worth it?”
New day.
Do you look back wistfully, wondering if your best days are behind you? Or do you do as my youngest does, wake up every day with a smile, in anticipation of another good day? A combination of writing this blog…

Tonight you came into the sitting room and began to recount part of your day. As I looked at you, standing before me, I zoned out and my mind began to wander. You saw me sitting in front of you…
Dreams and wishes
A while ago my younger brother, who is my daughters godfather, gave her a hardback notebook. It was titled ‘Dreams and Wishes’. Today I happened to come across it and read a page of it…
So there you have it, just some of the possibilities sitting waiting to be brought out of the darkness. I must say I like the sound of some of them, while others I looked at and wonder “What was that about?”
Now enough about me, what about you? Have you any interesting drafts waiting to be written?
I’d love to hear.

Hope you are good with avalanches Tric!
Haha. I don’t think there’ll be any need to worry about that. One by one, no snowballing here.
There will be big celebrations when you hit 1,000? will we all get invited?
I’ll organise a VIP ticket just for you.
Must press the tux so?
How’s your writing course going, tric? Or will we get to read the rest of that ‘what next?’ draft? I did a clear out of drafts a while back. They weren’t meant to be written. A deleted draft is usually too whiney, which is the flip side of too happy. I try to keep her between the ditches. Mostly.
I finished the course, well almost! I loved it and learned so much (about what I was doing well and not) I’d definitely recommend it.
That is a post I think might see the light of day.
I have drafts because I have to be in the same place when I write them as publish them so if I wrote a happy post and the next day I’m miserable I don’t publish it. I don’t schedule, maybe if I did I’d have a lot less.
I’m a ‘now’ moment blogger. I write and publish. The end. There is no planning or pre thought. I suppose I’m like that well known paint, I am ‘my thoughts on a page’ I do exactly what I say on the tin, so if they are not my thoughts today, they are ignored.
I cringe at the thought of deleting them. Maybe that’s bad, like a hoarder on those american channels.
Fair play. I’m glad the course has paid off and hopefully whetting yer appetite for more and mobilising you along your writing quests. Do finish that update if you take the notion. I’d be like yourself with blasting the send button on the spot. I rarely think of something in any great depth in advance, and usually flip open the screen and take my chances with the unvarnished splatting. If I thought about any of this malarkey for too long, I’d do a runner; which I was in danger of doing when a few of those posts commenced with some chin-stroking about blogging. A theme around blogging ruts quickly emerged, and just to torment myself further I couldn’t articulate what it was I thought I wanted to say anyway. Periodic malaise, I guess. So they got the chop since languishing in the in-tray was doing nothing but irritating me. The ones you’ve shelved will pour out when the notion takes them 🙂
Personally I love how you write as it is so not scheduled, and always entertaining.
At the moment I’m staying a few days with my mum in my old home. Makes you think. Dreams v reality. Paths chosen and memories. There are a lot of unpublished posts lying around the rooms here.
Oh I know that one. An overwhelming feeling. At its most over-powering when I look over to watch my wee one sleeping in my old bed beneath shelves of debris from my yonder years. I hope you fish out a post there for us. (And thanks – ditto…shure youknowyerself)
Hah! I have nineteen unfinished drafts. You have me beat ten times over! 🙂
Wow is that all? Maybe it’s me, I just thought everyone would have lots.
As I read this, I realize that may have been deceptive. I have more drafts, just not stored in WP. I type on a notepad app on my smart phone, then transfer to WP so that 19 are only the ones stored on WP. I have no idea how many I have on my notepad!!!! My focus was too narrow when initially answering your question.
Phew. Now imagining you with thousands and obviously even crazier than myself. 😉
Life is short, is this worth it? Love that!
Yes I use that one often, sometimes it works and sometimes it definitely doesn’t. 🙂
I need to remember it. I could really test out its worth 🙂
I dint save drafts of anything I don’t publish to WordPress. I often start writing in Word then copy/paste to WordPress. So I do have some drafts, not many, in my documents folder, maybe 3 or 4. I also have about 50 or 60 posts marked private in WordPress waiting for me to decide to make them public buy I most likely won’t because they are just that, private. I mostly don’t schedule. I have scheduled maybe 5 times in a gazillion years of blogging. I am a “now blogger” too.
I actually envy you, with drafts sitting there ready to go (or almost ready to go). I’m a few days ahead, trying to come up with ideas. Enjoy the abundance 😀
I have just one draft as I am also a blogger who writes in the moment. if I were to schedule posts, I’m sure nothing would ever get sent by the publish button! Not much is getting sent now! It’s been a long slump for me! Xx
Oh I so can’t do that, I have to finish the post I am working on and get it posted and gone. I commend you on your ability to just let it go, both for a while and for forever. I did one post that I put on a schedule, that was one that I did regarding keeping secrets from my husband for his 50th. I wrote it and scheduled it and then when it didn’t show up on the day it was due, I went in and figured out how to post it right then. I know people schedule things for a specific day and time, but wow, so just not me. Maybe I should develop that habit so that during those times when I don’t have time to write, I will have something there anyways. You inspire me dear friend.
You really should finish some of these! I’d love to know what comes after ‘twitch’..
Also I have 619 posts in draft…
I have as of checking for this comment 645 unpublished drafts. On occasion if I am feeling empty of inspiration or reaching for something to change my thoughts I’ll go to my drafts and browse through.
I enjoyed the snippets of your drafts. I’ve often started writing something and then stopped, because I’ve written myself out of where I was. So I can’t finish it until I’m ‘back’ to that place in my head again. When I go back and read them sometimes nothing grabs me, sometimes something does and I’m off like a rocket in to that moment/feeling/thought again.
i am jealous, in that i don’t have drafts, sitting and waiting for me to finish them. i tend to write something or let it go. it sounds like you have many good beginnings here and could easily make some of them into finished posts.
Most of my “drafts” are rattling in my head, not having even made it as far as a note in my draft folder. At some point, I need to write more of “My (Feminist) Story” – given that I have a post (optimistically) titled “My (Feminist) Story – Chapter 1”! I do have a draft in my folder that pertains to you, Tric. Some month or other, I plan to do an A to Z of me post as you did. You’ll know if I ever make it because there will be a pingback. 😉
I have a couple posts written, but not yet published, some posts are still bouncing around in my head, I have one post I need to write and publish, and a whole pile of notes that can either go in the trash or turned into something readable.
