Fancy a trip to Ireland?
We are in the midst of a heat wave,
and I thought you might like to experience it,
as for most of you it is a little too far to travel.
We are famous for our lush and green countryside.
However at the moment the first thing you might notice is our “redness”.
I am not referring to the typical Irish characteristic,
of varying shades of red hair.
No, I am in fact referring to the alarming “redness” of the native Irish.
Everywhere you look people are burnt and proud!
The shops may be full of trendy summer clothes,
but many of my countrymen have their own style.
Not to mention how well they wear sandals.
Such is the heat even our cows want to head to the beach.
The summer is a time when we can showcase the quality of the Irish body.
Our men are real hunks.
Us women believe we too can look like beautiful Mediterranean babes.
However the reality is very different!
If you do come to visit though, hopefully you can see past the natives,
and enjoy a country which really is beautiful.
Which could even lead you to one of our many pubs for lunch.
Maybe stay there a bit too long and enjoy the entertainment.
Where you will make great friends.
Sadly, even virtual visits have to end.
As you go back to your own countries,
I hope you have enjoyed your brief encounter with us.
Maybe some day you may visit us for real.

What is a heat wave in Ireland like? What kinds of temps do you have?
That is the funny thing. We get to 85 max and we need to take days off work. It is like we are all melting! 🙂
lol. . . we are usually around 100 this time of year. We got a little break this weekend, which is always nice.
I think I would actually die! I lived in Australia for a year and a half and I never got used to the heat.
We’ve got that same heat wave in the UK and if the grass is Ireland is anything like the grass in my garden – the green leached out of it to be replaced by a pale sandy straw colour – then the Emerald Isle is a bit of a misnomer when applied to Ireland right now ! 😉
Yes a lot of brown around and I don’t mean bodies!
P.S. do you have any contact details for the girl in the blue bikini?
(a ‘friend’ wants to know ) 😆
I’m afraid I can’t. She is obviously ahead of your “friend”, as she kept her face out of the picture! 🙂
Outch for the man with burn…Nice post…
Glad you liked it. Yes and he looks so happy!
I had forgotten the Irish signposts! I spent a very happy fortnight years ago cycling around Ireland in the rain – getting hopelessly lost.
If the signposts don’t get you, the directions given by us will. I’m glad you enjoyed your Irish experience.
Oh yes, I quickly worked out that Irish miles varied from place to place, and the proximity of Guiness. I also discovered what “a soft day” meant!
I’m on my way… Oh and I’m bringing my guitar and 4 children:)…. It looks beautiful!
You, your partner, your gang and your guitar would fit right in!
So funny. The sad part about our Irish sunburns is that they don’t last. We do not tan, rather, we burn, peel and then ghostly white within a few days.
How true. I am naturally quite dark but one of my children is so milky white as is my husband. As a nation though it was so funny to see the numbers burnt and proud. We have settled down a small bit now after a few weeks of this amazing weather.
Are you living in Ireland? Thank you so much for the comment.
I’ve loved EVERY encounter in Ireland. The pictures are fantastic. And now a heat wave to boot. You guys have EVERYTHING. 🙂
At the moment I think the nation agrees with you! Even we think everywhere is beautiful and the sense of holiday is fantastic. It is not doing our livers any good though! 🙂
HA! If I had been drinking anything when I read that it wouldn’t have done my nose any good either! 🙂
Ah, how timely! My daughter, who spent a semester in Galway some years ago, went back to Ireland this past week, and became engaged to the man of her dreams. The proposal was the height of romance, complete with a Celtic design holding an emerald stone. Followed by a celebration at the local pub. She has been raving about the fabulous and strange weather this past week.
Thank you, Ireland, for making her dreams come true this week! Now get under an umbrella, for God’s sake……
That is great news. Congratulations to your daughter and fiance. An unforgettable experience for them both. I am sure in Galway there was plenty music and singing on tap for them. So glad their trip coincided with the great weather.
It has been a scorcher here as well. Stay cool and hydrated!
I am living indoors! 🙂
Haha… I enjoyed this post. I would love to visit Ireland someday. Beautiful scenery! I had to laugh when I saw that you mentioned 85degF. That’s the average temperature all year round here in Singapore.
Glad you enjoyed your visit. I knew our high temperature would be laughed at. It reminds me of a year when friends of ours came to visit one summer, we all went to the beach and they wore their jumpers and would have worn more if they could, whilst our Irish children went swimming and wore suncream. 🙂
Thanks for the virtual tour, it was fabulous. It’s probably the first trip I’ve ever gone on where I wasn’t beat when I got back home. 😉
The temp will be 110 degrees F. here by the weekend. Wanna trade?
\o/
Definitely not! You might put Ireland on a bucket list some day. I think you would enjoy it.
I’ve always had a fondness for Ireland. Maybe someday…? 😉
