About Me

Hi there,

Thank you for visiting “My Thoughts On A Page.”

My name is Tric Kearney and I’m a stay at home mum of four from Ireland, married to ‘yer man’ for three decades.

The births of my children says a lot about my journey through life and how I have evolved as a person, my first child was induced and I shouted for and was given every drug possible, culminating in an epidural. my fourth was born at home in a pool, relatively quietly, with a paracetamol taken a few hours afterwards for a headache!

I am a calmer, wiser, more mature person than 30 years ago, but inside I am bold, rebellious and a non conformer!

I love life and all it brings and am fascinated by people, how they think, act and look. I have a passion for writing having kept a private diary for the past 30 years, from the sad, lonely days immediately after my Dad died, through my engagement, marriage, birth of my children (not conception) and all the other events of note, or not, in my life to date.

Now I’ve gone digital and public!

I began this blog in January 2013 and it has shared many of the highs and lows in my life since. One of my greatest highs was winning ‘Best writer’ at the Irish Parenting Blog Awards, and also ‘Best Personal Blog’, but I’ve also won prizes in Ink Tears Flash Fiction and Liberties Flash Fiction as well as having written a story for the anthology ‘A little book of love.’

In 2016 I was invited to write a column in The Examiner, an Irish national newspaper. It is a weekly humorous piece in the Feelgood supplement called ‘It’s My Life.’

More recently I’ve decided to take my work to the next level and have begun to write my first book.

If you are new to my blog, you may not know ‘Daniel’s story’.

Danny was my friends fit, handsome, cheeky thirteen-year-old, when out of the blue he was diagnosed with leukemia. Ten months and a bone marrow transplant later we lost him in November 2013. There have been times since when I could find no words to write how I feel. However, this blog has helped me find those words, and Daniel remains a part of my blog.

That just about sums me up to date.  Thank you for checking me out and I hope you enjoy reading “My Thoughts On A Page.”

    1. Thanks so much for nominating me. I don’t do awards any more as they are very time consuming, instead I do my freshly impressed post to try to give something back to bloggers. I hope you don’t mind but I really appreciate the nomination. It is always nice to be considered.

      1. I so get it! I don’t mind that you don’t “do” them at all. But, feel free to put it on your blog if you want. The awards are nice to receive but a lot of work…which is why it’s taken me 2 weeks or more to post this. 😉

  1. Hi there Tric, really nice to meet you. Just back from the allotment and trust you have had a good day too. Thank you for the follow really appreciated and if you have any requests or suggestions just let me know. Where a bouts in Ireland are you based? – west by the looks of the image. MM 🍀

    1. I’m actually in Cork too, although the picture is of my favourite place on earth, Allihies, in West Cork. I’m a Dub by birth but here a long time.

    1. Thanks a million for the consideration. I have stopped doing these award posts as they are really hard work. Instead I do a post called “freshly impressed” in which i highlight blog posts I enjoyed.
This reminds me I should try to organise myself as it’s been a while since I did it.
Thanks again Dan and congrats on your nomination.

  2. Though I hail from New York, you and I have some things in common. I was induced with my first child and I calmed down by the second. Accumulated years add to the calm don’t they 🙂 I too, have dear friends who lost their son, he was seven-years-old. But I came to know these dear people shortly after the death of their son… often times there are no words only embraces…
Ireland looks completely gorgeous and green. You’re supremely blessed to enjoy the vistas you have – like treasures.
Oh yes, one other area we have in common, I have a rebellious streak as well. I call her, my inner tomboy.
    Nice meeting you. Lovely blog.

    1. Oh my goodness we sure do have a lot in common, for good and bad. I’m delighted you called by, I’ll pop over to you asap.

    1. Thank you. I love the engagement with other bloggers as well as writing my own all sorts of everything, and finding new blogs.

    1. Thanks so much for nominating me for this award. I really appreciate it. I don’t accept awards because I find it so hard to get the time to do the acceptance and nominations. However I really do appreciate you nominating me, and I am very flattered. Thanks a million.

  3. Even though I’m miles away, it always makes me feel at home when I read these blogs Tric xx

    Miss you lots

    1. Ah Ciara. Some night I will do a little post just for you. xxxx I am so glad you went as when you have finished your travels nothing will have changed here.
Enjoy these precious days, they will be fantastic to look back on in years to come.
      Mind yourself. xxx

  4. I appreciate you and your blog, and have nominated you for the Lovely Blog Award. It’s an easy one and I hope you’ll take time to complete it. I’d really be interested in learning 7 new facts about you and I think the rest of the blogosphere would too! Check out my most recent post for the rules and the award for you to copy and put on your site.

    1. Thank you so much for your thinking of my blog for this award. I really appreciate it.
I have stopped actually accepting these awards as it takes quite some time to acknowledge, as you have done, all the blogs I wish to nominate.
However I do enjoy reading the posts of those who respond to this one, so I might very well go ahead and answer those questions.
I hope you don’t mind, and once again, thanks a million for thinking of me. I am thrilled.

  5. No problem. I fully understand. I told the gal that nominated me that although I appreciated being nominated, it was way too time consuming for me. I won’t be doing many more of these. I’d rather be sewing! LOL

  6. Hi there! Thought I’d check out your blog and follow 🙂 I’ve seen you post many times back on the Meet and Greet, so about time I said ‘hello’ !

    1. Life indeed has a lot to teach, and I’ve learned I have still an awful lot to learn. I’m glad to meetu (couldn’t resist, bet your sick of that one!)

  7. Thank you, for taking time to look and comment on my post. I realy appreciate your input on my cover choice. You have an entertaining site and I think you xhould write that first book. Publishing on KDP.(Kindle Direct Publishing) is relatively easy. All the information is on the first page.

  8. Wow you have been keeping a diary since 30 years and counting…. How awesome. I loved your writing style, pretty bold and humorous… I wonder if I could ever write like this… Would love to read more of your writing for now… 🙂

    Keep writing dear 🙂

    1. Thank you so much for the nomination. I no longer do the awards as the post takes so long as I’m sure you can testify to. However to be nominated is wonderful and I thank you so much.

  10. Thanks for the follow today Tric, I’m glad to have found you. We seem to have shared a couple of similar bereavement experiences and we both have four kids, apart from that I really enjoy the way you write and I’m looking forward to reading more

  11. I see you are from Ireland. My last name is traced back to your country. Good old George Fagan came over on a boat with his wife and kids in the 1850’s and planted himself in the state of Iowa. We could never figure out why he chose Iowa. Or maybe Iowa chose him. 🙂

I will be visiting Ireland in the summer of 2021. I’m really excited about it. Happy to have your blog.
