What better way to begin the New Year than to be able to tell you all my news. I have a book deal with Hachette Books Ireland for my memoir! I’ve wanted to shout this from the rooftops for the past month but I had to wait for official sanction.
A large dose of gratitude is due to my agent, Faith O Grady from Lisa Richards Agency, who believed in my writing and Ciara Considine of Hachette Books Ireland, who championed my memoir.
I can still hardly believe that this time next year I will be a published writer. As mine is not a work of fiction I admit to being a little daunted, but overall I’m thrilled beyond measure. Of course it is bittersweet to be sharing this news with you, yet not able to pick up the phone and chat with my mum about it. However, I’m sure she would be delighted for me.
I’d like to take a moment to give thanks to all who have encouraged me over the past few writing years and to those who have lived my memoir with me. I couldn’t have got here without you. I’m not over the line yet as the book is still unfinished, so I’m hopeful you will continue to be as supportive as you have always been, even if I disappear for a while into my writing cave.
Imagine, this time next year…
